The past few months have been encompassed with the make-believe. Be it plays, mask making, or songwriting the youth have been getting their creative juices flowing. During the mask session, we found the youth creating their own characters – this was based on someone they know or someone new entirely. We then sat down and made these characters from scratch – wrist deep in glue, glitter, and buttons.

When we’re not making masks we enjoy putting on plays – anything from magical creatures in forests to a day in a Maltese school. Whatever allows us to forget about the long day of work or school, or anything which allows us to deal with it – albeit in a make-believe way. Our sessions are tailored around the youth, and one thing our youth love is music. Be it march anthems, Disney songs, or songs that we write ourselves, music tends to feature quite often in our sessions.
Being located in Valletta allows us the liberty of leaving the youth centre when we need some fresh air, want a walk, or just want to explore different places. It’s easy for us to head down by the sea or have some down time at Barrakka ta’ Fuq. We’re close to Spazju Kreattiv as well and we’ve taken advantage of that and visited their exhibitions. Our sessions change from week to week depending on what our youth are in the mood for, and it’s a new adventure every time!
